It calculates the output based upon an external counter.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;A pure implementation would maybe keep an external counter and just accept a step command or some clock.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This one calculates the output value based upon the value of external counter and expects that that counter increments by one every time.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I think that that is an acceptable solution for use in loops, where such a counter is available by default.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Feel free to criticise or improve.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=4692&amp;AppID=13&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
