Side Glow fibre is best illuminated from both ends, since they only 'leak' x percentage of the input light.

You need to ensure you polish the cut end(s) (2/4000 grit sandpaper) to maximise the light transfer, and ensure your light source is narrow in width of light (you want to all go down the fibre).

I have used two part resin to join the source and fibre together, but this was generally for 'end glow' fibre, and the side glow was driven by a high powered source.

It would be interesting to try the source they advertised on the site.

Sometimes you just have to try things out before you realize that it just won't work.

Luckily you are resourceful enough to think of something else.
