John Steele Gordon’s A Thread Across the Ocean gives a nice account ...</description><dc:language>en-US</dc:language><generator>Telligent Community 12</generator><item><title>RE: Engineering the First Electronic Communications</title><link>https://community.element14.com/technologies/wireless/b/blog/posts/engineering-the-first-electronic-communications</link><pubDate>Tue, 26 Mar 2013 19:20:41 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">93d5dcb4-84c2-446f-b2cb-99731719e767:ff3ca8da-0af5-4d03-9798-c552da686229</guid><dc:creator>DAB</dc:creator><slash:comments>1</slash:comments><description>&lt;p&gt;Yes, it is hard for us to realize today how important it used to be with the arrival of news that were weeks old.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Today, we are spoiled with internet or news reporting events as they unfold.&amp;nbsp; Such was not the case even a few decades ago.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The initial cross ocean networks provided much needed information about events world wide.&amp;nbsp; It is hard for many today to understand what a difference modern communication provides for people making business and political decisions.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Case in point, the Battle of New Orleans in 1814 was fought three weeks after the War ended.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Today, we know when shots are fired and cities being bombed by anyone anywhere in the world.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I wish we could say that we only hear good news today, but we are at least quickly informed either way.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Just my opinion,&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;DAB&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=15376&amp;AppID=5&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
