An interesting idea. You could also send an audio message out that would let the public know what was going on and what they could do the help.

Sort of like the old Police All Points Bullitens (APB) they used on the old TV shows.

As we saw as the story unfolded, an alert citizen was aware, saw something strange and helped guide the authorities to the subject in question.

This is the only way that these searches can succeed. I a time of crisis, every citizen is the eyes and ears for public safety.

Your idea would help improve the citizen response by keeping them informed, alert them to areas of high interest and provide them with the key information to identify suspects.

We are much stronger working together that we are with just a few peace keepers. Plus, we all have a vested interest in making these antisocial acts more difficult to get away with.
