Qosmos Qoala DPI software runs on Freescale multi-core processors for enhanced network performance and security

BARCELONA, Spain (Mobile World Congress) - Feb. 11, 2008 - As the world's telecommunications carriers migrate to packet-based IP protocols, they face a new set of challenges to preserve network security and assure performance integrity across a range of sophisticated end-user applications. To help its customers overcome these challenges, Freescale is readying its multi-core processors to enable a new generation of secure and intelligent application-aware networks.

Freescale and Qosmos are combining the high performance of Freescale's MPC8572DSMPC8572DS multi-core processor with powerful Qoala Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and Information Extraction technology from Qosmos. This platform capability will be able to scale from the dual-core MPC8572DSMPC8572DS to Freescale's forthcoming Multi-core Platform.

Mobile operators are looking to DPI solutions to maintain and improve network performance and security, even as demand intensifies for bandwidth-heavy applications such as Web-based video services. DPI technology running on ultra high performance multi-core processors like Freescale's MPC8572DSMPC8572DS is developed to help network operators keep up with exploding bandwidth requirements by enabling the inspection and intelligent routing of packets.
