What The Terms and Conditions Says about Blogging for Official Designer Challengers

rscasny
rscasny over 8 years ago

Here's what the Design Challenge T&Cs says about where to blog:

"Post to the Competition Site blogs on the progress of their Project (Blogs) not less frequently than once per week during the Competition Period. One or two weekly omissions are permissible as long as the total number of Blogs is at least 10."

The competition site is element14, not your personal blog (e.g., blogspot)

    Good clarification Mark. Yes, there are different requirements and expectations on Road Tests and Design Challenges. In many ways, both categories are similar, but different. Road test can be thought of…

    I created a discussion because some people are not posting their official blogs on element14. I get the impression (correct me if I am wrong) that they feel posting it on their personal blog is good enough…

    Same applies to Road Tests.

    I'm wondering though, why the clarification here and not in the T&Cs? Won't this post get lost over time?

    I created a discussion because some people are not posting their official blogs on element14. I get the impression (correct me if I am wrong) that they feel posting it on their personal blog is good enough. T requirement oes apply to RoadTests. (I recently had a RoadTester post his review on his personal blog; he refused to place it on element14. Unfortunately, because of this, I can't use him as a roadtester anymore.)

    Official design challengers need to post on element14. That's the bottomline. Those are the rules.

    Now, if they want to post blogs on their personal blogs, that's fine with me.

    I wonder where this idea of posting on personal blog only comes from. We've had many design challenges and this is the first time this seems to have become such an issue.

    Clearly, participants don't read or decide to ignore the T&Cs. It's a good thing you are trying to enforce it.

    It feals like this is the first time someone has given the competitions here (road tests and design changes) a real look at to see what is and is not working. Until now it's just been whatever happens happens. Also just to be clear I'm all for this new approach.

    Wow, I hadn't even thought people would post out to their own outside of E14 site blogs.  I have seen where people reference their own spaces for additional information before.

    I think maybe there are more new challengers that have to get into the swing of how things work.  I have seen what looks like people updating/replying/commenting to their 1st blog entry with information they may think of as another blog entry.  I have also seen where people don't Title their Blog posting in a way to make it easy to have theirs stand out from all of the other Challengers blogs.

    Hopefully these are things that can be pointed out and quickly rectified getting everyone up to speed.

    Luckily with rscasny sharing updates and other members helping, this should be a doable thing.

    Excellent work Randall.

    It's in the T&C's but I suspect that some may not even bother reading them.

    I'm part of the road test thing, and was not aware of the "every week" thing.... though I also clarified my situation (moving/buying a house) with your last manager over this. Also because, being on that limited budget, I couldn't afford a welder for some parts I needed.

    On the other hand, depending on WHAT your project is, I could also see it not being FEASIBLE to post every week, if you've run into a hitch in development. To me, that post would sound like "Hi, this is a new post, just to say hi. Still waiting to get feedback on how to fix this issue. Please send Ritalin and coffee to help stop me from forgetting to NOT kill myself".

    For the rest, I'm in agreement that it needs to be posted here, not just the T&Cs, because do you honestly even read those all the way through when you install someone? Much less, do you just randomly GO BACK and read them after you agreed? People are lazy, lol.

    You might be surprised at how some challengers got very good advice and were able to progress BECAUSE they blogged and someone reading suggested a solution.

    The Road Tests don't have the weekly blogging requirement, it's the Design Challenges. image

    Often I find writing down a problem allows you to:

    * Vent frustration

    * Clarify things in your head

    * Get feedback
