BLE scanning and CC256X firmware uploading

Alistair

After thinking I had everything in place I have just got wound to the BLE scanning, and it turns out that it it not working. Basic Bluetooth functionality appraiser fine, but the BLE functionality is not there. Doh!

Following a hint from online I trued the command 01 01 FE 01 00 (HCI_VS_Write_BD_Addr) and that returned 0x01 (Unknown HCI Command), and that shown new firmware needs uploading. Has anyone done this?Any other suggestions for that matter?

LOL. I could've saved myself some time by actually looking what's under my dev board. Assumption shows it teeth, yet again... the XIP flash IC turns out to be optional.

That is amazing thanks. Yes the LE was separate, and I was making the mistake of also applying the AVR patch when i should not have done, so lets just pretend that did not happen and move on. ;-) It…

I have another oddity that I don't know if it is just me, and if anyone else is having the same issue, but the data lengths returned in the LE Advertising Report Packet are either wrong, or data is being truncated. Is anyone else seeing the same thing, or does it work for you? I am getting a reported length of between 16 and 43 bytes and only receiving 13 or 14 before the next packet begins.

I note that turning off duplicates solves the problem. My assumption is that it is so BLE noisy where I am that there is not enough bandwidth, memory and or processing time to deal with it all.

I wonder kind of timeout there is on the duplicate filter. I guess I can intermittently restart the scan if is it not short enough.

So, yes, filtering duplicates solves that issue for me and I am seeing every tag repeat at least every 2-minutes. The only change is the last parameter to 1 on the Set Scan Enable command so it reads "0x01, 0x0C, 0x20, 0x02, 0x01, 0x01".
