This case looks great. I love the idea of taking a piece of equipment that would normally be stationary, or if carried, couldn't hold up very well to rough usage. Portability is key (to me) for any project.

Ben's reluctance based can crushing episode got me to thinking, if he had a larger capacitor bank could the cans be crushed like he was trying to do using the solenoid coil.  Or would induction be a better choice - this is my can crushing exercise from back in 2007 using a 3.5kj capacitor bank and an induction coil.  I might have to build a solenoid like he did and try it on this cap bank:

I'm going to be firing my 24kj cap bank into an 11" induction coil and crushing *something* soon enough...

    Cheers!!

    Hey Ben,

Really Like your shows, started watching last episode, and have gone back to watch most of them.  You profess electrical engineering with great skill, and as someone who is self-taught, would you consider dedicating an episode to covering the basics of electrical engineering and how to approach modding?

    Challenge for ben:

The GoPro cameras have become very popular and easy to use, but their memory storage and battery power is lacking. I am looking to mount a few cameras on a vehicle for a festival in the desert and would like to do time lapse of the entire thing. Is there a way to rig up a self sustained power supply and possibly a dedicated hard drive so that i can use these amazing cameras but give the extra oomph so im not changing out batterys and memory cards every few hours? possibly a remote way to start and stop recording?

    Thanks

    reilly

    A cool build (I think)

    Concept:
I would like to see a simple SD card copier.  One that you simply place a full card on one side and a blank on the other, bush a button and ... -> all the data is duplicated onto blank card.

    Use:
This would a great tool for sharing photos at the end of a trip. After playing with a gopro camera for a day, share the video.

    Considerations:
    • Simple (one button operation)
    • Common batter source (AA, AAA, Ect…) or rechargeable
    • Quick. Should not take  more than a few minutes per gig.
    • Cheep
