Challenge: Low cost, easy to install, portable alarm system!

I'm interested in your take on a (relatively) low cost, easy to install (i.e. universal mounted, wireless door and window sensors) intrusion alarm system.

With all of the inexpensive microprocessors and wireless communication available, this should be somewhat straight forward.

The benefits of the system would be that anyone could purchase the product and sensor add-ons and have the peace of mind of a wireless security system in their home.

The sensors should probably run on A/C as there would be too many batteries to keep up with if not.

An added benefit would be that the system would be portable, which would be helpful when staying in hotel rooms or other people's homes during travel, and also would be easier to install and use in a rental type setting.

Could you really call it wireless if you have to pug it into the wall? Besides there isn't always an outlet that is convineinet to a window or door. So you would need some extension cables or longer wires on the wall adapter. So making the system low power and using batteries would probably be best.

Valid points. I wonder if there is a way to generate just enough energy to signal a main station from the movement of a door or window? Now THAT would be something. No batteries needed.
