  • I would use them to test out simple logic for projects before completion. I would also expand them with a dedicated or block and a breadboard block with female headers for the pins to connect additional circuitry via a breadboard and jumper wires. Also, it might be cool to use the switches, an and an a light block to pretend to be one of the failsafe switches used for launching missiles.

  • I am currently teaching my son the use of redstone on Minecraft. This would be a great teaching tool so he would actually hold the objects and see how it works. The blocks are an increadable teaching tool and will benefit a lot of students. Even if I don't win, I will have to make these for teaching kids, they won't even realize they are learning!!

  • I'd like to win as this project looks Amazing!

    If a huge fan of minecraft as redstone is my #1 skill in the game, Im thinking of expanding this project

    To the raspberry pi model B with minecraft Pi edition, etc changing blocks or other random ideas with real life redstone blocks with its real physics!

    I'd also like to group with my friends to have tons of fun with these devices, their So amazing!!!

    I'd like to start a series with these, obviously I will try to make expansions to the set and add it into my minecraft loot set(Actual minecraft world made with the minecraft toys).

  • I would like to win because then i can figure more about the way everything works and maybe even add some modifications for making the light/LED more efficient and powerful, Im new to the arduino and stuff im already programming still learning though but in the future i would like to learn how to make some sort of new invention i dont know what i'd make but the ideas are endless so it all depends, anyways getting this set could also help me learn by looking more into it and seeing what each function does. And could help me better on when making stuff like this or something different but with the same idea.

    I think that the logic blocks are a great idea and can be built upon greatly. I think though that the addition of the redstone comparator (to compare the "strength" of 2 signals) to the mix, along with the addition of buttons and repeaters can open up a huge array of possible logic that can be built to test possible in game logic, along with a great device for simple electronic prototyping, giving it an even more hands on approach.

  • Hi. I think I this would be awesome to have, I've seen tons of The Ben Heck Show, he's even become my idol for this stuff, and this is by far the coolest thing I've seen so far, and I'm a beginner at this kind of hobby. It would be a fun task to try and make new output blocks to help me learn as I go along, and I would try to include things like pistons, note blocks, etc. I also think it would be a neat project to re-texture the 3D printed blocks so they look fresh out of the game. And of course, just play around with them because Minecraft is awesome, and redstone is one of it's best features! In real life, it's that much better!

  • I'd make blocks that match in size but are just terrain blocks and build stuff, then I'd add audio (note blocks*). Also, I'd try making a pressure plate and 3d-print a Li'l Steve to match the build. *Note blocks would work like in the game: When they get a signal they make a sound. But if they are placed on a different type of material (eg. glass, wood or planks) they'd make a different sound. How about NFC or simple magnets for that?

  • If I won this project, I would use it to learn more about logic gates as well as making some interesting little circuits. I would also probably expand it and make more output blocks such as solenoids for little canons and maybe a camera block.

  • I'm going to school for electronics engineering and my daughter loves when i build simple electronic circuits with her. this would be great for her to not only learn about simple electronics but also logic gates.

  • I would use it to get kids interested in DIY electronics classes that I will be teaching at the local library.

     

    I also want to build a similar version of these with inductive power (or batteries) and RFID hooked up to processing or a raspberry pi so it would not have to plug in physically so that it would be easier for kids to play with and harder for them to break.
