We have covered all in one compact cameras, a video camera, a DSLR, and even instant cameras. Let's fill in the gaps with a Bridge Camera. Thanks again to Katie for the donation of her camera for this teardown!

I have an 8 track player, it was included with a phonograph that I purchased at a garage sale.

I don't have any tapes, but I use it to play LP's.

It was great for hifromkatie to send it over and great that she agreed to feature too! Thanks again!

And of course, thank you DAB. I think the yellow connector on the board was composite, L and R, but of course that's not to say there wasn't another format? Mabye even Component video?

Adrian, I have to be honest, anything newer than 1990 I struggle to find service manuals for, so I didn't even think to look! I'll definately look it up thank you! I guess the scaresity is a result of the cost of new products, and the "throw away" culture?

Fire wire would be a very good guess! I wonder if we can find a fire wire port that matches the pad arrangement on the PCB?

The small PCB at 10:00 contains two chips that get the data out of the CCD image sensor. The Analog Devices chip is a specialized ADC to convert the analog output of the CCD to digital pixels. CCDs also require a complex dance of clocks to shuffle the charges collected by the millions of pixels to the ADC, which is what the FujiFilm chip helps to orchestrate.

There's a service manual for this camera on the internets including block diagrams and full schematic. Just search for Finepix S7000 Service Manual.

Curiously the mystery connector and nearby parts (like IC702) are also missing from the schematic. I think the missing connector is for 4-pin FireWire (IEEE 1394a-2000). Maybe they planned FireWire support but dropped it in the final product.

    Great episode.

I love looking into digital and analog camera gear.

I think the four pin connector would have been a video output with stereo sound.

Thank you Katie for sharing your old camera.
