Keeping with July and (northern hemisphere) Summer time, I like Douglas' ideas. Demonstration of physical phenomenon for classroom is a great avenue, I was thinking lots of solar stuff. Charging systems…

A retro computing hack would seem to be a good topic for a Project14. There is a lot of old hardware out there that could be repurposed, upgraded or hacked.

I found this beauty the other day in someone's junk pile.  The dial can be backlit also.

As far as using test instrument displays for alternate purposes, analog meters are very flexible that way.

    Beware the Ides of March.

A project dealing with security and spy theme.

That opens it up to Enet security type software projects, facial recognition on trigger, or not so serious fun stuff like spy gadgets, sibling detectors,

I got two maybe interesting ideas that popped into my mind, one would be similar to the photography theme that was suggested and would be camera equipment, anything from camera spinners, sliders, gimbals, remote triggers and so on.

The second idea I had would be, how fast could you go on 2 AA batteries, the goal would be using only 2 batteries and no other power sources (no pre charged super caps, though, you can use them and charge them from the batteries) to make a wheeled robot/machine going as fast as possible.

Almost seems like this might be a good example of listing most current comments first instead of last, 11 pages over multiple years.  :-)
