Gemma-Splashwear, Testing Pierre's umbrella hat at home and  hive76 tonight.

Hello everyone!  I just got home from trouble shooting some issues with the LEDs on Pierre's umbrella hat. I was able to get them all working last night and today they would not. No matter  what I tried I had a problem.  The video below is me testing at home first. I even burned one of my umbrella hat panels and I had to take the whole thing apart. I had soldered all of my LEDs without any problems on the vinyl and last night  had the iron to close to plastic and it melted a small dot. I had been soo careful when i did my poncho and Pierre's. No matter how much you plan something can always go wrong. I was so frustrated that I needed to get out of the house and get help from the guys at Hive76. They are a great group of very smart guys there!

 

What I found funny was that they too were confused and they know a lot more than I do.

I did what they said and started disconnecting the strips to get to the problem.

Well this took so much of my time that i will post the ponchos tomorrow,

Im tired and I have to go to work. One thing that I wanted to say was that I had the umbrella hat

was all done and I had to compleately take it apart. I will put it back together Thursday .

The only way to find out what was wrong was to go through strip by strip. Thank God that the hat

is not a complicated piece and i can fix it quickly.  Good nightimage

    Thank you Dab, you are so right. I did have them all working, but my husband and I thought that if we ran some hot glue across the wires they wouldn't come apart and after I did that they all stop working. Never do that again.image I also didn't test the whole strip when I got it, I was told to always check it, I didn't know that either. I'm still learning. Thank You so much for taking the time to make comments and give me tips, I really value that!

  • Yes, you need to learn good debugging skills early.

    Making sure that each strip works before you assemble them is always a good idea.

    Then you can work down the like to find where there is a problem.

     

    Looks like you had a good group helping you find the problem.
