The Hack Like Heck contest was meant to be a fun way for element14 to uncover new video talent – engineers smart enough to make new electronics projects on an ongoing basis – sharing their passion and love of electronics with others.
- We wanted to see what types of projects you could create on a short timeline – while producing a video.
- We wanted to see your soldering chops.
- We wanted to see how you behaved as a member of the community.
As the community lead on this project and Executive Producer of The Ben Heck Show – that’s what this contest is still about.
- I’m paying attention to your ability to clearly explain a project in a well-produced video that shows your own work in progress.
- Anyoe who filmed their soldering had great soldering skills.
- And now I’m watching how you are behaving as a member of the community.
If you think someone has been gaming the votes – be assured that as a site admin I can see all the votes and star ratings and shares. Yes, it’s odd that there are a bunch of Eric Millers voting – but if you go to Andrew’s facebook page, you’ll see a lot of Eric Millers in his list of friends. Now, if any Eric Miller registered multiple times (which could be determined by looking at time stamp, IP addresses and such) then that might be grounds for disqualification. Of course, Uncle Eric might have thought he was doing you a favor – so if that happened, have him log in and un-check his “Like” vote.
Please don’t make us take the time to sift through your activity. Please don’t try to solicit phony votes. If we have to take the time to investigate your voting activity then there’s a good chance you will be disqualified from the contest. Please don’t make us disqualify you.
Thanks for understanding.
