What Is Your Favorite Project?

It is common to have a favorite song from when you first got heavily interested in music.

Do you have a favorite project from when you were getting into projects?

Maybe something that provided a lot of satisfaction and still inspires you to do projects.

Please elaborate in the comments. A picture would make it even more interesting.

Maybe your favorite song inspired a project...Relaxed

My favourite project isn't an electronics one. It's from when I first got into CNC machining. It's a reverse engineering of a toy I remembered from my childhood and the realisation that the consumer tools…

Almost 10 years ago, our local robot club sponsored a robot parade at the science museum. I went a bit overboard and made a line follower into a model steam engine with a really load sound system with…

Through the first 25 years of my career, full time work was my only project (that and raising kids). In the mid 90's my first marriage ended and I began a phase of self discovery. One of the things that…

Right, the contact angle forces the hoop to roll up the pole on a spiral path.

Beast of a project for sure.... and with all its ups and downs maybe a metaphor for life itself.  There are two things that make it so challenging to me.  First is that the CP1610 processor is a strange animal.  Instead of having a dedicated program counter it uses R7 (i.e. register 7).  So 99% of the time it operates like a program counter, but it can also be accessed as a general purpose register so in addition to jumps, branches and returns you can do math directly on it in order to jump to the next address.  When using R7 in this manner its value is generally not the 'current' address of the op-code but the next PC if you will.  So dealing with these special cases took a long time to fix.  The other issue is that the original Intellivision hardware runs an executive program that imposes a certain structure on the game cartridges themselves so there is a lot of jumping between cartridge code and executive code and then of course you have to chase a series of events through a number of different 60Hz interrupts which makes trouble shooting so hard.

Very informative video.  So it's the angle of contact that allows the post to exert a force that has an upward component.  That was the key take away I got from your video.

That sounds like a beast of a project. Those dark moments of despair make the elation of completion that much sweeter - at least that is what I tell myself. Relaxed
