HELP!

14lsmith2

Hey everyone,

i would like to build a tiny tool for a computer, to remember what is Being typed through the keyboard. I was thinking a USB attachment that went into the computer and the keyboard then plugged into that.

I would love to do this for as cheap as possible as i am only a secondary student. And all I would like it to do is secretly remember the words its typing.

Mant thanks

L.J.Smith

Just in case you're thinking of a software solution - I highly recommend AGAINST installing anything that logs keystrokes. It might get you the info if you're lucky, but it's highly likely you'd be sharing that same info with shady folks who can then access all of your passwords too.

So really your best bet is honesty - work with your mum to earn the computer time you desire. You'd be amazed at how much your parents do for you every day (you'll be much more aware of that 10 or 20 years from now).

Agreed: this is a relationship issue - not a technical one!

Trying to deceive your mother and disrespect her like this is not going to end well!

What have you done that made your Mum restrict your computer and email access so much? Maybe you should respect her wishes and earn her trust back so she freely gives you access again. If she ever discovered you'd used nefarious means to obtain the passwords no doubt you'll be in more trouble than what ended up with you losing access to your computer and email accounts in the first place....

Also, as she has your email passwords, does she also read your email? If so is she going to see all the messages from here with replies to you asking how to circumvent your password protection with a key logger so you may already be in more trouble....

    Good luck!

It's a very simple device to make.  Use a USB to Serial cable like this one

    https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9717

and connect it to an Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

Then write the software to log the incoming data from the keyboard through a USB host port and

back to the computer through the FTDI cable.

Good luck, you should get out on parole in a couple of years.

So - you want a keylogger? Normally used for grabbing password, so it sounds like you're up to something you shouldn't be.

Well, although I didn't mean to pit it inot road test, it is to do with boards.

this is actually to get my computer password because I have a desktop and  my only my mum knows the password, I don't even know my password to MY E-MAIL, it is Super enjoying, and I would like to just know what it is.

i would actually be intrested by software that could memorise whats being typed too.

    Many Thanks

    Laurence,

please edit your post and change the section from Roadtest (specific for product road testing) and move it somewhere else. Thank you.
