What project do you wish you had the time, the resources and the knowledge to build?

This is not a question about what is on your bucket list, since I think of a bucket list as things you might actually do. But you could mention bucket list projects as well. To keep save-the-world mega-projects off the list for now, it should be a project you could do mostly yourself.
Do you want to build an autonomous solar powered boat to take you around the world, how about a solar powered aircraft, how about a completely self-sufficient off-grid dwelling complete with automated greenhouse, how about the ultimate gaming computer with an 18 core i9, or how about a full AI system to discuss politics with, or a robot to do all your chores for you.
Personally I would like to build a humanoid android robot just for the challenge of making it seem human, not trying to make it better than a human.

The year was 2011, near 2012, and I had an idea. I was fed up of sitting down and using a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Repetitive strain injury got in the way and I just wanted to use something that felt…

Great Question! I'm curious to see what others bring up. From a STEM perspective, I wish I could make a 5.25" Floppy Disk. The step I don't have the resources, skill, or knowledge to do is the vapor…

Getting the oxide on there is one thing ... keeping it on there is another.

It has been a couple of years since I dug into the initial idea. But this is the exact part where I realized it was more complicated than I initially thought. And it is why I started looking into DIY vapor deposition options. It is the only method I could think of that would deposit metallic particles evenly on mylar (or other plastic) without significantly damaging it.

But building such a machine and getting a viable result needs more space, money, and knowledge than I had. (Although, if I had the first two resources I could build up the last one.)

If you decide to work toward this one, I would recommend something digital and not "analog." ie, don't try to build an "analog" switch matrix that connects the HDMI signals. That is going to be really messy because of impedance mismatches.

Instead, having 4 HDMI sinks on the input side, 4 HDMI sources on the output side, and (probably) an FPGA in the middle would be more viable.

I started, but gave up on, designing a sub-1 GHz edge device. I got somewhere, but would need more time (not money) than what I want to invest, to make it reliable and scalable.

It resulted into some blog post here, deep diving into MBED. Not the core of my design, but the rabbit hole I gladly jumped into when I realised that I didn't get the joy I expected when working on the original goal.

Wow, pinball was big when I was a teen so a pinball machine is definitely on my bucket list. I haven't started collecting parts yet, but I occasionally mull over how to simplify a full build.

Robots ... lets see.... Twiki, K-9, Bender, Mavin, Johnny 5 .... which one gets close to emotonal impact?

Those are all good examples.  A more recent example is Bee-Two from the Star Wars series  Andor.  I was thinking of 'him' as I was posting my response.  It's cool that a pinball machine is on your bucket list.  Before it makes it on mine I will have to overcome my fear of not finishing things.

I am slowly working on turning a 3D engraver into an automated scanner for various sensors so that I can measure intensity over a volume for things like magnetic field, light reflection, sonic deflection and other sensors.

Do you continue to use it or is it mothballed?
