I'm sure everyone is all too familiar with spotting some cool stuff and not being able to resist. I know I'm definitely guilty.
Fess up to the stuff you really shouldn't have bought but did! Let's be honest, the most likely outcome is that some of us will likely join you - but then you'll probably feel less guilty about it.
Perhaps change the plan from point and shoot compact to a field camera.

I bought an autofocus Arducam without thinking it through. I was expecting to marry it to a Pi Zero 2 and make a small point-and-shoot camera......the Arducam is still in the package.....
I realized the Pi camera was going to take too long to boot for what I wanted it to do....
