Recycling old computer cases

Hi everyone,

My dad and I have started to recycle old useable computer cases that are going to be destroyed. We clean them up, remove and hardware and paint them. We use different colour spray paint and make space and planet pictures on all sides. We aren't sure what to do with them after we finish painting them (Any ideas?). We would like to give one or two to the Element14 community as a prize for a future challenge (If it is ok with the organizers). Below is one we just finished yesterday, hope you enjoy!!

In NZ they would be sold for a fortune as Hobbit houses

Very cool idea. I may have to enhance some of my older computers with a good paint job. What type of paint did you use? DAB

    Thanks,

I bought some spray painted pictures years ago during a trip to New Orleans.

I still have one hanging in my bedroom.  Very cool.

A crazy idea is to place inside a very small device (e.g. a raspi) with small wires so that the "brain" remain hang to the center and if possible leave one side transparent. Then with some lights and the right connections, this will be a great effect of a big small device with a lot of space to add super-customised components to do almost any thing, any ToIoT to be precise! (Thing of Internet of Things)

It could be fitted with lights inside and used as a grow box for e.g. lettuce.  it would have to be a dwarf lettuce though and you may find watering would be an issue.  Just a thought.  There are versions of said grow boxes on youtube.

The English would refer to these as Bespoke.

Makes them look much better than the plain colour.

I can see a project involving remotely controlled lighting perhaps ...

I have been doing spraypaint art for a couple of years now, Chrystal thought of doing it on old computer cases. I have been showing her how to create pictures with regular spraypaint, no brushes. We will paint more this week and post the outcome.
