Wow. I didn't realize element14 had its own blogging service as well. Hmm.

 

Well, I'm a bit of a random person, so I like random things. My mind never sleeps, but the time to write posts is always limited.

 

For now, you can find my latest thoughts on my personal blog at http://goughlui.com, but I suppose I might find a use for this blogging space for particular element14 related things - like extensions on RoadTests and the like.

    Does my face really need to be hidden? (I'm not that ugly ... right?) ... I think I'm perfectly fine as a regular human image (along with the other non-minions).

    I've been looking at some of your personal blog, and I'm not sure how you have time for other stuff.

    The website says they have 270,000 members but the discussions, voting and other figures would suggest that actively there is a lot less than that.

    Many seem to appear for the Roadtest/giveaways and some stay, but many are just here for a quick answer because they can't be bothered searching for it themselves.

     

    I generally follow the Activity and anything that triggers my interest, or that I can offer advice I will open and maybe respond.

    The old saying is "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" is the same for encouraging members to participate as well.

    I can definitely say that I recognize pretty much "the crew" of top members and regular contributors by their usernames ... they seem to be the only ones really "keeping up" with every new post and piece of content. Sometimes I really wonder how you all do it! I certainly can't find that much time ... as a result I sort of "drop in and out".

     

    But besides that, recently I've been posting threads of more "varied" variety in the past few weeks in the hopes of trying to stimulate some discussion, possibly by members who otherwise haven't had any other reason to make any noise. Alas, I do feel like I've failed to some degree, because often it seems that it's very quiet or the "regulars" are the ones replying. I suppose a reply is always better than none ...

     

    I've started to follow more groups and join them (I'm not sure what the difference is really), but some of them have been quiet for years. In terms of the active, bubbling groups, it seems to only be a handful (or maybe I'm just missing the hotspots entirely). As with any "social" network/system, I tend to slowly branch out as I become more familiar with it image.

    You will find a lot of interesting minds hanging out here at Element 14.

    You might want to dig around and by all means get involved with the discussions.

     

    We are a very eclectic group with a wide range of interests and experiences.
