You are probably right. I found who owns the arduino.com domain name. It is Gregg Ostrick dns@gnousa.com GNO, Inc. P.O. Box 88 Steele, AL 35987 US Phone: +1.2565387242 Let's call him and ask.

The best place to get started is the official Arduino website: Arduino.cc.

This is their Getting Started guide which explains all of the basics too: http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/HomePage

I recommend Oomlout's tutorial for your first hands-on tutorial. They also have a nice starter kit to get you going.

    Good luck, and enjoy!

    Cheers,

    -Nico

Bearing in mind that there is no legitimate arduino.com and that the existance of arduino.cc is shrouded in mystery for some reason,  I went exploring and  discovered a gem:  arduino.org   -   which has never been mentioned on element14 forums until now!

    Good find, thanks.

I'm curious what you mean by "the existance of arduino.cc is shrouded in mystery" ?

    Thanks,

    -Nico

Hey, Nico.  Twas a simple attempt at humor image  and also a legitimate complaint image  against the rising tide of new users that do not understand image that going to a product's primary support site (OEM) is the proper starting point.  Come on let's put on our thinking caps and ask: "How much would it cost per year to register arduino.com and redirect it to arduino.cc?" and "Would doing that assist more than 1000 new users every year at a cost of less than 2 cents per user?"

I agree about the funny .cc ending - it made me wonder about it being legit when I first saw it.

I'm betting that the squatter who owns Arduino.com will be asking for a large sum of money to give it up though, which may be impractical.

On the bright side, the top item of a Google search for "Arduino" sends you to Arduino.cc.
