Hi,
Comparing Arduino and Raspberry Pi is like comparing apples and oranges, they are very different from each other in almost every aspect. Arduino is a programmable microcontroller bord and Raspberry Pi is a Linux Computer, choosing which board you want depends on the type of project you want to make, and your experience in programming. If you have no experience in programming or electronics, you will find the Arduino easier than the Pi. The Arduino has been around for a while though and there are tons of useful tutorials and YouTube videos around to get you started. HERE is a good comparison of both.. And HERE is a great video of the same topic..
But if you are really into robotics BeagleBone Black is the thing for you HERE is a good comparison between both..
or you can use Raspberry Pi with GertDuino which will give you the power of both RPi and Arduino, Its the best of both worlds !!!
Hope this helps....
