README - 4.3 LCD Display Cape for Beaglebone Black

Use of this LCD display product is initially intended for use with the Beaglebone Black host board. Support for use with other compatible Beagleboard variants will be provided at a later time.

The firmware image provided by element14 at the link below will fully support the BB-CAPE-DISP-CT43 display product. Please find the link to the firmware image under the ‘Downloads’ tab at http://www.element14.com/bbcape43

Note, at the time of issue of this README note, the official firmware images provided by beagleboard.org do NOT fully support this display. Manual updates may be required to enable all aspects of the display when using a beagleboard.org provided firmware image.

I added a keyboard and mouse; boots up completely; looks great; works great.

Have you had any success or help with this problem? I'm thinking of using these with BBB Ws and I don't want to have them sitting around if there's no support.

    John-

Sorry to hear you are having troubles.  Can you please provide a bit more background on your set-up?

    • What type and version host board are you using?
    • Did you use the firmware image referenced in the README and the product notes?
    • So, are you saying the touchscreen works fine with the canned firmware load, provided but just not with your own Yocto distribution you are developing?
    • Does the display function work with your Yocto distribution?

In my experience the display and touch screen should work fine by default on power-up using the reference firmware image provided programmed onto your BeagleBone Black host.   As for your questions regarding the firmware drivers pieces needed to support your development of your own Yocto distribution, I can inquire about those details for you.   I wanted to ask these further details about your experiences and set-up before I pursued that request.

    Thank you,

    Craig

Me too. I plugged it up. Touchscreen does not auto-calibrate. Need some direction/examples.

    John,

I bought the same LCD about a week ago.  Did you get an answer to your question?  I was wondering the same thing.

    Brad

The firmware image is great, but could anyone point me toward the resources (dts files, drivers, etc) that would allow me to get the touchscreen working under my own (Yocto) distribution?  I need to combine it with other ongoing work.  Screen works great, but nothing out of the touchscreen.

    Thanks!

    John
