Maxim's latest video multiplexer provides ESD protection and glitch-free switching to applications requiring up to 900MHz of bandwidth.
SUNNYVALE, CA—March 18, 2010—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX4885AE, a complete 2:1 VGA multiplexer. This device can be used to switch two VGA signals from a graphics controller to one connector while maintaining a low 5.5pF (typ) on-capacitance for higher bandwidth applications operating up to 900MHz. The MAX4885AE is ideal for use in notebook PCs, servers, and consumer video applications.
The MAX4885AE is the only 2:1 switch offering a complete VGA solution with two separate control signals that independently switch between the high-frequency and low-frequency circuitry. This device provides glitch-free switching and two times more bandwidth than any existing solution. Additionally, it integrates ±15kV (HBM) and ±8kV (IEC 61000-4-2 Contact Discharge) ESD protection to eliminate external protection diodes. The integrated switching architecture and ESD protection save design time, board space, and cost.
The MAX4885AE operates from a single 5.0V supply, and is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. It is available in an industry-standard, 4mm x 4mm, 28-pin TQFN package. Pricing starts at $2.50 (1000-up, FOB USA).
