    I remember!

I've been a member of E14 since 2010/11, so i was here for the first announcement of the R-Pi. E14 was a chaotic and busy place when the Pi came out. Even more chaos ensued when the commercial arm couldn't deliver the Pis on time. People were ready with their torches and pitchforks when they didn't get their Pi.

Logistics became a nightmare. People waited months for their Pi, weren't happy about it, and made their sentiments known. The Pi became one of the most popular releases ever for a micro controller/SOC product. Deja vu?

I can't recall how I first learned about the Raspberry Pi but I do recall that it made the headlines when the lack of integrated magnetics in the RJ45 network connector came to light during the early production run, resulting in delays In shipping.

Like the many others, I am glad you can have multiple retries.  I thought I new my Pi well ~ still a lot of knowledge to be gained.  If I remember correctly I first discovered Pi through Hackaday ~ but it has been a long time ago.  Sometimes it is hard to remember what I had for dinner last night.

It feels like a long time ago I first came across the Pi..... no doubt I’ll get a Pi 4, and we’ll have some fun for sure! To me, if it gets people into STEM subjects, and having some fun promoting the more embedded aspects of software and hardware working together, it’s a success.

<rant>When people use them at the core of a battery powered portable product, then have issues when the plug gets plulled, battery life is short, or they don’t respond quickly enough because the programmer had never learnt to code properly, let alone used Python before, that’s not the fault of the Pi....</rant>

Learned about the first ever Pi when a colleague at my last job mentioned the old XBMC (previous KODI) platform.

He bought one and tried it and was flawless.  Great product, hope to tinker with one day myself.

Great trivia! Not much good at it. I discovered I don't have novelty knowledge. It seems I am missing a few seeds in my berry.
