POLL Do Roadtest Pages Provide You with the Information You Need to Apply for a Roadtest?

Roadtest landing (enrollment) pages typically provide detailed technical information about a product that is being offered in a roadtest. They also provide additional information in the form of datasheets, user manuals, getting started guides, software guides -- the type of deep technical information you may need to develop with the product.

Roadtest landing pages typically have not contained that much background/marketing information that would be of interest to the non-technical person. If roadtesters felt that they wanted more background/marketing information, I can provide it. But that has not been the audience the roadtest typically serves.

The question I want to visit in this poll is: Do the roadtest pages contain the information a member needs to make a decision to apply for a particular roadtest? Are the pages too technical? not technical enough? missing information you would like to have? or has the right information?

If I can summarize the feedback provided here. The roadtest information page should be structured in the following way: 1. Title (usually this is the sponsor + the product name) 2. Summary: this is…

This has been our approach for at least 4 years: it's up to the roadtester to determine how to test it. The review should share the tester's experience of the product. That's been a key goal for me. But let me work on the goals section.

Thanks for your response. Non-technical or background information as I use those terms would be info one would see in a marketing brochure or something newsworthy or cool. For example, we are roadtest a 3D orientation sensor kit. I believe it has been used in the movies for motion capture, etc.  Now, for better understanding what the sponsor wants to gain from a roadtest, I would group that under RoadTest Goals. Looks like I need to add that section on the roadtest page since you are the second person seeking that info. Thanks.

These are good questions. When a sponsor has something specific they would like tested, then they provide me the details when I have a call with them. But most of the time, they are very general. A few are looking for new applications of the product. But I feel that is generally something that is better served in a Design challenge where the participant is tasked to develop a prototype. However, these are good questions. I can add a section on RoadTest Goals. That is easy to do. Thanks for your input.

I'd voted for lacking non technical info - for the sole reason I'd like to understand better what the insights a vendor is trying to gain by sponsoring a Road Test.

It is easier for the focus, but takes away from the reviewer's freedom. I like to interpret the task of road testing as: "act like an end user and share that experience".
