Microchip PicKit 3 recipients

Hello Allister,

I wonder if you have a drop dead date on the delivery of the North American kits. I have yet to see it and I am curious as to which shipping method was used. I am afraid that UPS delivered it and it is sitting under a large pile of snow on my front porch. Is there a way that we could confirm delivery of the packages?

Yeah, the kits are still coming. Apologies again, there is quite a long lead time for us on the kits. The Microchip and Freescale kits are in the US at the moment. I received a message last night that the US winners have been mailed, but because of some custom problems (you guys don't want a customs bill on receipt?) the European winners will have to be mailed to me first. I should have them early next week and I'll mail them straight out

Alistair can correct me if I'm wrong, but yes the kits are still coming.  Check the "Road Test Update" posting for the date.

Sorry, the matter was completely outwith my control. I was told that there would be kits available for the RoadTest ending, but by that time they had completely sold out and we had to wait for two different kits to come back into stock and get bundled. The fact it happened over Christmas and at a time when there is a delay getting deliveries just didn't help

I do try to have the kits on my desk before I start the test, on the Microchip occasion it just wasn't possible.

DEAR ALISTAIR WINNING,

IT IS BETTER TO DISTRIBUTE THE PICKIT3 KITS FOR EVALUATION MAYBE A WEEK LATER, RATHER THAN DELAY IT FURTHER. MAYBE THE REST ARE UNAVAILABLE TO RESPOND TO YOUR MESAGES.

Hi guys,

Hope you all had a great holiday. I have been off since 18th December and just returned today. I thought I'd give you an update. The Altera, Altium and the remainder of the Kvaser kits have been sent. I left the postage of the Microchip kits to a colleague, but she didn't receive them from our product manager who was on holiday. I should have them this week and I'll send them as soon as I get them. The Freescale RoadTest has also finished and hopefully I should have time to sort out winners and get them posted either this week, or early next week,

I am still waiting for the Pickit 3. Do you know what is the latest status of the kits ? Is there a delay ? Will be shipments by mail or carrier service ? Or, should i wait for some time to receive the kit ?

Hi Firat,

Those are good ideas, but very hard to implement. I'm not sure how people would rate a review, especially those who hadn't used the product. If there are any omissions in the review, or further aspects to discuss then there would be a chance to ask the questions and get replies.

Also there is resources, at the moment I am the only person keeping track of winners, addresses, competitions and postage, it would take even more of my time to keep an up to date "embargo" list. I say we just run with what we have at tha moment and see how things turn out.

That's a good idea for a number of reasons. And yeah, it would be good to know that a dev kit would go to an embedded engineer as opposed to say a power engineer. It would also be easier to find people with the same interests. The other attraction is that some suppliers want the kits send out geographically, so they will supply ten kits to the US and ten to Eurasia (this actually happened with Microchip PicKit 3 bundles). Fortunately teh geography is pretty even on the group at the moment. On the other hand it would be good to know how beginner friendly these kits are as well!
