Instead of handing out items for free in the hope of a detailed, useful review - allow customers to post reviews of products purchased from Newark/element-14 and reward them with discount coupon codes for future purchases.
John, All,
From a supplier stand point, I like very much this idea of rewarding with a discount coupon for future purchases. This is something I will bring in my next discussion with the element 14 team if I see some interest from several of you.
I am also very interested to get your comments regarding another idea that would go beyond the current Roadtest and the posting of the reviews as they are done today. Goal would be to provide vouchers to someone who would run a real project with the product offered.Regular sharing of his progress and sharing of his project experience with this product would trigger more and more vouchers.
I think it could have a high interest for the other designers but again this is only an idea. The decision to bring it to the next step is in your hands. Just let me know.
Peggy
Hi All,
To add onto Peggy's point, as an Element14 supplier, we're actively looking for enthusiastic people to develop real projects (application notes) for our products. I think this goes far and beyond what a simple review would be capable of. In spirit with road test, we would love to supply to needed tools for free given the presence of some really cool designs.

I think this is an excellent proposal, in fact, close cooperation between supplier and developer will I am sure reap many benefits for all concerned. It is through networks such as element 14 we can meet and work together to develop and perfect cutting edge product. In fact the out of the box developer/innovative mind of the enthusiast is entirely complementary to the methodical and market led manufacturing mindset of supplier, we could be seen as all part of the same team. Structure to share reward with all stakeholders is to be welcomed. Talk is good!
I like the idea of direct cooperation between the developer community, like the one we have on Element-14, and the manufacturers.
I would love to develop an idea that will be covered in one of the application notes. It would be even better if the development tools were provided for free - this would definitely easy the development progress.
This process would be usefull for students and schools, as this will make it possible for them to more recent electronics for the students to work with.
Whats going on?
I want to reply to the latest post, Aug 29, 2011 4:04 AM by Thomas Jepsersen as it states at the top of the page (at this time) and was the latest one I received in email. However when I click the link in my email I get a message that this link does not exsist, nor do any of the other discussions on that topic - they have been removed?
Either it is not open for discussion or something is wrong with this forum. All the postings from 8-29-11 are missing.
*** EDIT ****
Correction - now that I have posted they have appeared. Your pages are not updating correctly.
Wierd - Because I have no problems viewing the post, nor using the link in the email.
Can't you see my previous post and the others posts now?
@ Thomas Jepsersen
I can only see the new post after I post. However I do get the email notification right away, as I just got your last message but clicking the "View the full disscussion" link in that email brings me to the forum without you last post. After I post this then I will see you last response.
EDIT
Just want to point out that it's not just the pages from Thomas. any new post does not show even if I update the page in my browser. But yet the top of the page has the Lastest Reply listed correctly. Even clicking that link doesn't work.
I think that we could have both options. The coupons and the free items. Because sometimes its a chicken-egg problem. Several people are starting projects and simply don't have the funds for more expensive basic equipment. With these expensive basic equipments the speed of project is seriously affected.
But the idea of rewarding ongoing project with recurring coupons is also very good.
Not the only one with this problem. Seems to just be this browser not liking it as it works fine in other browsers. Rather irritating to say the least.
