This seems to be happening more and more that pages are ether very slow to load or don't load at all. Help would be appreciated.
I entered the R&S MXO4 Road-test but some of these text boxes did not show up or where labelled differently. I hope I am not penalized if I entered incomplete data or I missed something. If I am missing something I would be more than happy to fix it or fill in the missing information.
Also the link that explains the form I'm guessing links to "Writing Your Entry Form" but I'm unsure as the link did not work. Hopefully that would be fixed for future users.
No one should ever give a delivery driver money for delivery fees or import duties. We pay those. If it comes up, tell us. And we will track it down and see what is going on. We do this a on regular basis.
I wanted to respond to the questions revolving around tax responsibility of roadtest products. This past week, we enquired again with our Director of Finance about this issue. The answer is based upon how roadtests are defined in our Terms and Conditions.
A roadtest was set up as a contest. The applicants who are selected to receive the roadtest products are called "winners." The products themselves are called "prizes." Since it is a prize, the U.S 1099 rule applies. If you are a U.S. roadtest participant, the 1099 rule says for prizes that are valued at $660, you will be required to complete an W-9 form and the company will issue you a 1099 form, as income, at the end of the year.
If you are not a U.S. participant, it would be up to the individual recipient to determine what the rules are for their country of residence. Newark US cannot dictate or recommend what their tax requirements would be for their respective countries."

I have never had any issues with import duties for any roadtest items. The element14 team does an absolutely fantastic job of handling those themselves. Some months ago I had the privilege to roadtest a ~2k$ kit and all I had to do was go down to the gate and collect the package. My experience with roadtests started in 2021 so I can't comment on anything before that, although I am certain they would have handled it if they had been made aware of it.
Fortunately I never had any problem - not products from roadtest, but prizes or products for Challenges. E14 uses UPS to Portugal and they take care of everything ! Never had to pay for nothing !
So funny! It is not as though the taxman hasn't been told off before. It would raise alarm bells with me if the revenue agent had difficulty speaking my language.
I coordinate a program that does income tax returns for low-income earners. I have had a few revenue agents that were hard to understand. Couple that with a client that is in their 80's, it makes for a good cartoon skit.

We definitely make sure to send out items where the delivery duty's paid for (I mark that on everything I send out). Therefore, we shouldn't see this problem again, and if we do, we'll definitely reimburse anyone experiencing it.
I think 'permanent loan' is well understood by most tax authorities.
I'm not familiar with that, still, if we went the route with delivering the item as a loan for review, we'd also arrange collection of the item via a courier.
I once did a RoadTest for a product a few years ago, I think it was around £25 ($35 at the time) in value, unfortunately it got shipped from the Newark site rather than from Farnell here in the UK. Suffice to say when it arrived at my door the delivery driver wanted around £18 ($26) in import duties and delivery fees, so from that point on I've never applied to do another RoadTest. Yes, I'd love come back as there's been quite a few products I would have enjoyed reviewing over the intervening years; this oscilloscope being the latest case in point, but if what happened to me before happened again with this item I'd hate to think what the charges would be. To take part now I'd have to have a guarantee beforehand that it would ship from Farnell.
