POLL - Which Of These Products Would You Be Interested in Roadtesting?

rscasny
rscasny over 3 years ago

I have been busy lining up products to be considered for roadtests this year. As in most years, this is a kind of back and forth process between what the sponsor would like roadtested and what element14's choices. I try to involve community members in this process. And that's what this poll/discussion is about.

I have a number of products I'd like to get your input on. It's very clear to me that roadtests take time, not only to complete the application entry form, but just to do it. The decision to roadtest has a lot of factors: need & desirability of the product, time & availability, work/school schedules, and more.

So, I have list a number of products below. I provided some basic information, link to more information. I'll follow up with more information for those polled as popular products.

If you have the time, I'd appreciate your input. I tried to make each poll short.

Thanks

I did see that, Peter. But great point to make. As with any roadtest product with special requirements (I include safety in that mix), I would modify the application entry form to ask questions so the kit ends up in the hands of the right person.

All but the energy measurement would be safe for any skill level, I would be more cautious with whom the energy measurement was issued to as to fully test you would be connecting MAINS voltages to the board, we would not want anyone getting hurt

One obvious use is to generate an additional negative rail

This mechanism was used in the eLoad we designed here on e14. The opamp -5V rail was done with a charge pump IC.

"Charge pump. No idea what to do with it."

One obvious use is to generate an additional negative rail in the kind of situation where one is needed for a small amount of analogue circuitry in a largely digital system. It looks interesting. The interleaving and LDO could result in quite a quiet supply noise-wise.

A good list of interesting boards to test.

I look forward to some interesting reviews.

An interesting mix of power stuff, with an RTC and an accelerometer thrown into the mix.

Most of them are somewhat of interest - but I suppose the inverting charge pump doesn't sound too unusual or special compared to other such devices.

I'd be quite happy to take some of these on ... but alas, time investment is always the concern as there's always so much to be doing. Look forward to seeing them (eventually) reach the RoadTest front-page.

This link has a general description of a charge pump, if you are interested:
