The Atmel SAM-4S Xplained (ATSAM4S-XPLD) evaluation kit is a hardware platform to evaluate the Atmel SAM4S16 microcontroller.
The kit offers a large range of features that enables the Atmel ARM® SAM4S16 user to get started using SAM4S peripherals right away and understand how to integrate the SAM4S device in their own design.

Based on the powerful ARM® Cortex™-M4 processor, the Atmel® SAM4S series extends the Atmel Cortex-M portfolio to offer:

And a rich peripheral set for connectivity, system control and analog interfacing.
Devices are pin-to-pin and software compatible with current SAM3 Cortex-M3 processor-based microcontrollers (MCUs), offering a smooth upwards migration path for performance and memory size.
Testers will be selected on the basis of quality of applications: we expect a full and complete description of why you want to test this particular product.
Testers are required to produce a full, comprehensive and well thought out review within 2 months of receipt of the product.
Failure to provide this review within the above timescale will result in the enrolee being excluded from future Road Tests.
In common with most Dev Boards of this type nowadays, the J-Link functionality is provided right there on the board itself - that's what the big chip on the left (as in the picture at the top of this page) does!
J-Link OB is a single chip microcontroller "on-board" of an eval board. The microcontroller has a USB-interface on one side and a (sic) JTAG + UART interfaces on the device side. It allows debugging device without the need for an additional debug probe (emulator).

Having a J-Link right on the eval board allows customers to fully use and test the target CPU, providing full debug capabilities. At the same time, the eval board can remain small and inexpensive. All features of the regular J-Link can be used, including download into Flash memory.
Sorry, in reply to your question, so far no shipping or tracking information has been provided from Element14.. Without it the mode of shipment is not known.
I sent an e-mail to Joann Alvarez (Business Assistant to Global eCommerce) the person who notified me, and asked when I could expect delivery of the Eval Kit. It was read but she did not reply.
Element14 / Newark / Premier Farnellexpect us to be prompt and professional. We expect the same from them.
We have jobs and lives we have to juggle to comply with their requirements. Knowing when to expect the item and any shipping / tracking data, help us be professional as well as counter any unforeseen occurrences such as delivery errors or lost packages. Errors of this nature are not uncommon.

I dont think any of us are acually going to recive this board. What a shame, I wish element14 would at least tell us what happend with this thing! It says there were 25 kits available and there is only one review pending, so why werent the other 24 kits shipped out :/. This makes me a bit sad as, ive struggled with quite a few STM boards due to there lack of documentation and organized community, I was really hoping to try out an atmel board as id hoped it would be a much better platform to start learning ARM on than the STM offerings.
Im curious why the first person on the list has review pending by there name and no one else does, it would be really nice if they let us know whos reviewing this. I would appreeciate knowing wether this board will come or not, that way I know if I need to implement my idea using something else.
