The Printrbot jr. is a great choice for people who are new to 3D printing. It's small, portable, and IT FOLDS! image

 

The jr. is slightly simpler than other printers because it ONLY uses PLA (no ABS) and does not come with a heated platform. PLA is non-toxic and biodegradable with a lower melting temperature – a safer choice for kids. It also uses one less motor than our other printers, greatly simplifying the process of moving the Z axis.

  • Interresting printing filament types comparison by destruction of printed pyramids (ABS, PLA, Coloured PLA, Polycarbonate)

    The Printrbot Jr. can only be used with PLA, but I suppose it won't be too hard to upgrade it for other plastics types.

         Can I edit my road test to show what I'd use it for? I forgot to include that in my application. Just explained my previous experiance.

  • Very nice looking printer. The fact that it can fold up is awesome. Would make it very handy to travel with and give demonstrations. A lot of companies are looking to buy / build these for their warehouse environments to test parts in the plastic form rather than aluminum to cut down on costs for R&D.

  • Very strange and cool design for this printer.  Can't wait to see a review to get a better idea of the quality.  Hard to tell with the lighting and the color of the PLA.

    Thanks for letting us know your interest, in order to enroll as a roadtest applicant you must be logged in as an element14 user, and click the "enroll" button to the right where it says "now enrolling".
