Poll: How Can I Get You More Active In The RoadTest Program?

Greetings. If you don't know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Randall Scasny and I manage the element14 RoadTest Program. While I know some of you, I don't know all of the 5,352 members who follow the RoadTest group. I am always interested in getting more members involved in this program. I'm always looking for good roadtesters who are committed to producing a review everything can enjoy to read and experience. That's why I am writing today: What Can I do to get you more active in the roadtest program? My poll covers the range of things I consider when working with suppliers on offering a particular product to roadtest. If you have other things on your mind, feel free to add them in your comments.

There are a couple of reason to why I don't apply to too many roadtests. One is that I only apply to products that I'm very interested in, and when I can spend enough time to test them and write a proper…

As a freelance writer I have received numerous rejection letters. In most cases you get nothing after pitching a proposals. It is the nature of the beast. What motivates me to continue, is my love for…

rscasny I think you are doing a phenomenal job with the road test program. Right now it is all about the test items, so obviously the more attractive they are the higher the interest/incentive. But in…

I try to be nice about crap and offence is taken, I'm putting the cap on the pen and going to bed. I will write again when I am sober. Well let's just say less in the drink.

Stop, stop, stop your making me face sore from smiling.

Your use of the English language is making me home sick. Your diction sounds like my family playing cards around the table.

    Thank you for clarifying.

I recall pausing when I first looked at joining the site because of the information requested. I have tired to extract myself from Linkedin. My profile is gone but I am still haunted by the occasional message.

Me rude or nasty, I try not to be. I have had to come back to this site in the morning to delete posts i made while answering the Call of the Mountains the night before. It seems beer and lose lips or pen have some relationship.

No Sean, You are not nasty or rude. But one of the requirements of RT is a complete profile. Nobody but your connections can see your profile. oh, the worst offender is FACEBOOK, unfortunately, use it quite a bit.  The only way to stop it from stealing all your DATA  is to rebuild my computer with a NEW CPU as it logs the serial number is to use Virtual Box. It gives a virtual CPU serial number so good luck.

I also have a presence on eBay as well, and about 5 websites that I run from a hosting service.

I agree that it is a very good idea to restrict the amount of personal information you expose. My social media presences is non existent.

I found nothing in ntewinkel commentary that was judgemental. Care to explain?

Have we met? I positive your the angry guy standing on the street corner yelling at everyone that passes by. Something about a conspiracy and everyone is out to get them. I usually try and avoid them by moving to the other side of the street.

If your responses are indication of what could be expected on a RoadTest, then you are very fortunate I am not part of the selection committee.  After reviewing you latest discussion participation your application would be part of my first cut.

Any thoughts that the negative attitude you project may have something to do with your lack of success?

The other thing that I noticed for station240 is that his profile is incomplete (as in: no name, no picture, not much info, twitter account is mentioned but it doesn't share any personal things).

I thought that was a requirement for RoadTests? I could be wrong.

It's a requirement to have personal details/mailing address set in a profile, however that doesn't mean making them public.

Randell and other E14 community staff can see my full name, address etc, there is no way to mail things without those details.

Anyone short listed also has those details passed to the supplier of the kit.

Social Media 3.0 where everyone has to use their full names instead usernames is not a good thing. Judgmental comments like your's prove that.

As for the main photo in my profile, it's part of a larger project, making one banner but with different aspect ratios so it works with youtube, twitter, here, forums etc.

Simply cropping down a larger image isn't going to work, tried a few different ideas, only workable one is to move the items around and take multiple photos.
