It looks like a GS date code....

No, date code is 9812 and consistant with the PCB date code.

Guessing it's an automotive part?

I've sometimes had trouble locating MOSFET datasheets used by some vehicle manufacturers. I didn't know why, and concluded at the time (perhaps wrongly) that the semiconductor manufacturer may have given them specific part codes if they are supplied just to one firm. I could be totally wrong through.

You are right, automotive, but seems there is many fakes on the usual chinese sites (without datasheet) and now that Vishay is the owner of General Semiconductor zilch. There is nothing new under the sun about house numbering. Sometimes you get lucky, others you don't
