I would like to see if you could try to make an printer ink cartridge work in a type of CNC printer instead of using a pen or marker. Using any raspberry pi to controlled it and the socket in witch it is installed in to the printer. Only looking to use the black but if all can be used in the same wat at the same time cool. Buy just need to know about black the cartridge and if it is passable

    Hi Jeff,

Interestingly I tried this at uni : ) The inkjet cartridge uses some piezo elements (at least, the Epson ones did at the time - they were the ones who kindly donated a printer to the cause.) which needed an odd waveform (at several tens of volts from memory) and when that was applied, little blobs of ink would eject out at speed : ) We used a DAC to generate the waveform.

However, the cartridge has many piezo elements (so that multiple lines of print could be produced in parallel) but the connections are really close together, so it was hard to control more than one. The other problem is that they dry out, unless they are capped correctly. The simple solution was to use just one of the nozzles, till it dried out, then move to another nozzle : )
