Exploring Diode Characteristics with a Poor Man's Curve Tracer -- DC to Daylight 21

In this theory based episode, we explore the silicon diode. I cover some of the history, from the thermionic diode to the modern diode we are familiar with today. I touch on the basics of PN junction semiconductor physics, and then we take some actual measurements on a cheap curve tracer.

Nice episode.

I do have to chastise you for poking around an electronics circuit with a metal instrument.

If you have to point at things please use something nonconductive.

You did a good job of explaining what happens at the atomic level, though my new atom model does a better job of showing how electronics work without trying to move an entire electron around.
