The whole Mushrooms' Paradise blog
For the enclosure I used an old non-working fridge. Mushrooms and vegetables will grow inside the fridge, electronics are located just next to it. The reason for electronics to be outside is I need RPI to be able to connect to WiFi and it will be not possible from inside of metal fridge. The access side of the enclosure is covered with plastic film, to make humidification more efficient.
Here are the dimensions.
Fridge seems to be pretty big, so I thought its volume would be around 1m3. In reality it is much smaller. So I guess harvest can be multiplied proportionally.
Par A is where mushrooms and vegetables are located, the grow area. Part B - is where all the electronics (RPI, power supply, Humidifier, relays) is located. Part C is not used, but it is needed to pass humid air to the grow area.
Volumes of the parts and the enclosure are:
A = 64 * 55 * 72.5 = 255200 cm3 = 0.255 m3
B = 21 * 29 * 72.5 = 44152.5 cm3 = 0.044 m3
C = 35 * 21 / 2 * 72.5 = 26643.25 cm3 = 0.027 m3
Total V = A + B + C = 0.255 + 0.044 + 0.027 = 0.326 m3
So to estimate the harvest production from 1m3 enclosure harvest production from this enclosure should be multiplied by 1/ / 0.326 = 3.07. Actually it will be even more productive because the electronics part will not expand proportionally, so the grow area will be bigger. Initially I wanted to weigh harvest and calculate calories, but I will not get a harvest from this farm by January 5. Unfortunately it took me too long to build it.
