Bluetooth Unleashed : AAPSAD #1 : An usual Intro

Hi Guys,

This is going to be an usual intro, an exact copy of my application with some add-on. Before getting started with that, what is AAPSAD????

AAPSAD is an acronym for Adaptive Ambiance for People with Stress and Depression.

Where and how did this came into my mind?

  • Most of us would have been with or passed through people with depression or mental illness, which goes unnoticed until something serious happens. A few of us would have lost our loved ones, inspirations to depression. In my place people really don't take mental illness so seriously, most of them have an attitude of "unconcern".

  • After a little bit of psychology, we narrowed it to two factors Place we live and People around us. Although People cannot be changed, environment can be. So we wanted to build something that would create ambiance by understanding your mood and thus AAPSAD.

  • It sparked out after a series of suicides by few of my inspirations.

Idea:

  • Environmental factors affect your emotions, decision making, personal life and work.

  • Setting up a proper ambiance for people especially the ones with mental illness is always hard and even makes their condition worse.

  • The idea is to use Raspberry Pi with a camera which recognizes facial expressions and understands one's mood and instantly setting out a signals via Bluetooth to control Lighting, Ventilation, Smell, Music,

  • Humidity along with soothing visuals and create an ambiance that adapts to your mood with least effort.

Working:

Briefing down the working, its going to be a dual hardware

The Desk Unit is placed in convenient place so it could track the face clearly, The Rpi+Camera continuously monitors your face and gets the mood from your the facial expressions (I seriously have no clue how we gonna make it image)

On finding the emotion, the Rpi sends a suitable commands over the Bluetooth to the Arduino and controls, Lighting, Ventilation, Humidity, Smell and the Mood lamp.

Why a RGB mood lamp? Light and color have a deep impact over our mood.

Imagine your are sad and the light go out and the room fills with a nice blue light. That's the way we want it to work.

Environmental changes together with calming music and visuals should make a exotic environment without any hassles.

Waiting for the hardware to arrive and wondering how this will end image

Cheers,

I like it. If you get it to work, I might build one for myself. It might help me deal better with people who irritate me. DAB

Very interesting concepts.  It will be interesting to see how this all works out.  I look forward to following your progress on this project.

but I always figure it out. The discovery process is where most the fun is anyways. It is sort of a "ready, Fire, Aim" process. All you need to know when starting is enough to be dangerous and have the ambition and will to figure it out and do the research to eliminate the unknowns. I think you will do well in this challenge!

I think you have workings of an excellent project.

I'm glad you've identified your major issue " I seriously have no clue how we gonna make it"

Don't let this become your prime focus at the expense of all the other aspects. You can work on it at the same time as your other blogs.

Also don't be afraid to share in the issues/problems and stumbling blocks as others may have some ideas/suggestions.

I'm certainly not an expert, and haven't had first hand experience so it's not for me to say what is right or wrong but you may be over simplifying the causes of Stress and Depression.

If it were that simple, everyone would be solved.

It might help me deal better with people who irritate me.

If you find that answer let me know, there are several at work that infict that on us nearly each day ... well except when they aren't there.
