Christmas in July!

I came home from work, and there was a large box sitting on my chair. My first thought was "Wow, that is big." That thought must have actually come out, because my wife said, " yeah, I thought that it was bigger than you were expecting, too."

Well, let's get down to unboxing the package.

image

These are the three boxes which were inside the mailing package. The one in the upper-right was pretty obvious, but I wasn't sure about the other two packages at all.

The Maker IoT Bundle looks pretty cool; lots of stuff packed into that small plastic box:

And here is the stuff inside:

Notice that the lid has a list of the contents stuck to the inside: (as I said, lots of stuff!)

And, here are the contents of the MKR1000 kit:

image

You can see the Arduino MKR-1000 in the upper-left of the picture. Clockwise from there, you can see the empty plastic box, then a bag with many small components, such as resistors, push buttons, jumpers and LEDs. In the lower-right, there is a bag with s couple different motors (DC, stepper and servo.) Next is a bunch of pre-stripped jumper wires. The red bubble-wrap bag, was hiding a nice little 16X2 LCD display. The last item is a bag with the USB cable.

The other two packages from the second photo above contained some additional components, and some pretty cool adapters.  The first allows the MKR1000 accept boards designed for the Arduino Uno footprint - you do need to be careful not to exceed the 3.3V limit of the MKR-1000:

In addition, they also included a prototyping adapter. This allows you to build a simple circuit right on the included proto-board. It even includes a micro-SD card socket.

image

I really like how they label the connector. It makes it easier when you are connecting your circuit to the MKR-1000.

image

Well, I got all the presents unwrapped, and checked out. Time to put the stuff back into the box, and attend the Christmas ham dinner. ;-)

Next time, we start playing with the new toys!

Good Luck granzeier on your project. Have fun playing with your Christmas present and don’t forget to post them. I’m curious here, when did you receive the package?

It is always nice to get a package, especially if it is full of interesting things to play with. Good luck on your design challenge project. Gene
