I noticed that a couple of us are looking at the weather. I think I can get all I need from the Yahoo service so I'll go with that for the moment.

Weather Underground, or WUnderground, has a good API: API | Weather Underground . The free version only includes a 3 day forecast, but still. Also a good API to get an user's location is IP-API.com - Free…

I've also used http://www.hostip.info/ I wondered if the HTML5 location API could be used to pickup the location via the UI

That does look interesting, I enjoy IP-API.com - Free Geolocation API because of all the extra features it comes with. But I might toy around with implementing IP Address Lookup – Hostip.info
