Experimenting with Extreme Environments

In partnership with Hammond Manufacturing, we present Experimenting with Extreme Environments.

As IoT solutions continue to be deployed around the world, more and more electronic devices will be exposed to harsh and extreme environments, which can quickly decrease their life expectancies. This includes exposure to wide temperature variations, moisture, humidity, vibrations, chemicals, impacts, dust, and other particulates.

In this challenge, participants will receive a kit of electronic parts, including an IP68-rated enclosure. They will need to build an electronic system of their choice and house it in the enclosure. Then, they are tasked to devise experiments to test the enclosure under various extreme environments.

The Kit

A maximum of 10 FREE kits will be offered depending on qualified applicants. To be eligible to receive a kit, you must submit an application by the enrollment deadline (See to Timeline Table).

Note: The challenge kit does not provide everything that will be needed for this competition. The challenger will need to have the resources and equipment, as well as other minor parts to build their testing systems.
