hugohu I do not know if there really is a set schedule for design challenges HOWEVER 1 Meter of Pi is current and it might be of interest to you.
Also pretty cool is the library of previous design challenges. element14.com Design Challenge Index
Finally, because there is so much happening on the element14 Community, I miss stuff. SO... I actually use the tool bar to check things out that I might have missed.
