This is an update to my Forget Me Not Design Challenge project.
It is delayed because of a week lost to a trip, two weekends lost to softball tournaments, half a dozen hockey games and the process of landing a new job. Also, I am still struggling to get the parts I need, but I have enough to show some progress.
Enocean provides fairly straightforward software for monitoring their sensors and several of the contestants have provided excellent instructions on how to get such systems working with Raspberry Pi. I wanted to show some alternative solutions, so I first installed Dolphin View Basic on a PC to monitor the sensors I have via a USB300 Gateway Controller. This is of course a bit easier than running on the Raspberry Pi, and I'm all for making it easy. The display for the Raspberry Pi has not arrived yet and I am still waiting for some Enocean parts, but at this point I figure I had better make do with what I have.
It was a pretty straightforward installation and all sensors work fine with it, but to emphasize how easy it is to use Enocean sensors in arbitrary applications, I wrote fully custom application in Visual Basic 6.
This next video simply shows multiple sensors in operation simultaneously.
Here is a closeup of how I connected the toggle switch. These pads are normally used for an SPDT reed switch. I intend to replace the toggle switch with an SPST reed switch when my parts order arrives.
Wrap-up
So I have the software basically working and making status accessible over the network. Next I need to add the reed switches when they arrive and start packaging the sensors for final deployment. Also I need to get the Raspberry Pi display working to illustrate the Smart Doorbell.
