Furry Costumes Final Submission

Here was the drawing we included in our initial bid.

image

And we kind of got there but time ran out on us.  The failures just kept multiplying yesterday after we tried to take a video of them in action.  Here is a pic from yesterday.

image

Cute, but no effects were working because a button on Ellison's suit failed.

The problems continued into today when I accidently killed the arduino controlling her costume.  At that point Ellison and Rowan had skipped town and I have a big laundry list of things to do before my parents come to town on Saturday.

I made a video for those who want to see the costumes in their diminished capability and hear my "final report".

Thanks for the challenge Element14 and AdaFruit.  We got close but ran out of time.

    Hi Chris,

I was not sure how it would all work out, but I like the effect of the LED's on the white fur.

As for failure, that only occurs with people who try.  Kibitzers never fail, but then they never build anything.

I think you did an excellent job given the scope of your design and the timeline you had to work with.

Like everyone else, I look forward to seeing your design up and working, so I hope you complete it even if the competition is over.

    Thanks

    DAB

We all have our fail stories, but I would still give anything to wear one of your outfits.  Actually, you have given me the idea to create a steampunk muff.  I already started investigating how Victorian muffs were made.  Some of them were actually quite long and then progressed to petite ones in the '50's.  Anyway, hats off to the cutest family around!  I love the way you think, and perhaps in the future we could collaborate afar.  BTW,  your baby looks just like the Gerber baby -- so cute.  I'm sure you will fix the problem with the costumes and they can still be a blast for Halloween.

What a pitty.... Your construction and ideas looked very nice,  and you really worked hard to get it done in time, even though you warned that it would probably not work out. I hope you can clear your mind after you've cleared your laundry list, and then get going again. Your project looks promising!

Good luck, hope to see the finished costumes posted here later on....!
