So you finally get to meet Pierre, the face of Doggone Couture! He is happiest when he is in my arms, he looks like a stuffed dog, I know. As you can see from the pictures, we have been testing out our circuit on vinyl. We want to make sure that it will look good and withstand movement. Amber my granddaughter, went with me to Kyle's and was in charge of video and picture taking. I took this one of her watching Kyle, solder the Neo-pixel ring https://www.adafruit.com/products/1643 to some wires on the GPS https://www.adafruit.com/products/1059 and the accelerometer https://www.adafruit.com/product/1247(just for testing). My design is not complicated, but working with vinyl sure is challenging. We have tried 3 different grades and have decided on the thinnest vinyl. My idea is to have two pieces of vinyl, one that will hold all my LEDs/electronics and the other one that will be the outer part of the poncho. I've been trying to find a way to connect the two pieces of vinyl together and my options are snaps, either plastic, metal or magnet. I have ordered all three and I will pick the one that works best. I want the ponchos to interchangeable. When I don’t want to wear LEDs/electronics, I can just snap on a piece of fabric and since the vinyl is clear, I have the option to pick any color or print! Amber was playing with the large Neo-pixel ring https://www.adafruit.com/products/1768 We are hoping to use it in the build, but we are not sure if it will fit in my umbrella hat. Kyle and I are planning to take this circuit to Maker Fair NY, to test the GPS not the rest of my design, so don't worry we will not reveal our ponchos yet. We will keep you posted!!
