In one corner we have the Enclosure Case 1554UGY (Water Tight ABS 200x120x90 Enclosure) and in the challenger corner we have a washing up bowl (well my Greenhouse potting tub) and plenty of cold water.
Test Parameters:
- 24 hour test duration.
- Fully submerged
- Left outside for the duration
Hypothesis: The enclosure shall indeed be proven to be water tight as advertised.
I will edit and update this post as experiments continue (its only messing about if you dont write it down!)
I give you, the Soak Test #1
Subsequent tests (before and then resuming after Christmas)
- Test 2# deeper submergence, more pressure on the gasket seal, same 24 hour duration, same outside.
- Test 3# hose or power washer exposure
- Test 4# a selected combination of 1,2,3 with cable glands fitted, with stub cables.
Also, for the 1554H2GYCL IP68 60x119x180 PolyCarbonate Enclosure, whilst with the gasketed lid with two piece “tongue & groove” construction provides protection against access of oil, dust and water, it is rated up to IP68, lets find out.
Note to self, find the proper test methodology for IP / nema ratings and replicate, if not impossible to do so

A full 24 hours later and Test 2# deeper submergence, more pressure on the gasket seal, same 24 hour duration, same outside, all passed. Dry as a bone inside.
As a continuation of this as I am not yet ready or at a point of fitting hardware and cable glands I am going to continue with the soak test 2. No video this time I am afraid, heavy rain at the moment and I needed the hand for the umbrella!

and a bonux +24 hours taking total soak time to 144hrs - PASS
