In lab 3 I built a more advanced hardware platform into a more feature rich PetaLinux system. Features for Networking, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth BLE and for using SPI devices through the Click Mezzanine and Low Speed connectors was added to the PetaLinux. To assist with debugging support for remote debugging was as well as support for the Linux Ext 2 and 4 file systems and additional utilities was also added.
In lab 3 I learnt how to:
• Create PetaLinux systems that load from SD Card
• Use PetaLinux to program additional larger PetaLinux images which the JTAG programming tools cannot currently do.
• Customize the capabilities and file systems of PetaLinux systems.
• Setup and connect the Ultra96 to a local area network using Wi-Fi.
I am still having issue completing builds in PetaLinux so I am fine in these labs and experiments until I get to the build section. However, I was still able to perform the following experiments in Lab3
Experiment 1: Updating Petalinux
Experiment 2: Customizing the PetaLinux Kernel using the Menu
Experiment 3: Customizing the PetaLinux root File System using the Menu
The build compile fails so I have to resort to using the pre-built images.
In Lab 3 the object was go setup the WiFi connection between the Ultra96-V2 and my home WiFi network. You can see form the image about that I was able to establish a connection and ping www.google.com. The Ultra96-V2 by default comes up as WiFi access point. I connected to it with my laptop and using the Web Browser interface on the Ultra96-V2 and selected the Configuration setting and setup the Wifi on the board to access my home network.
