Path Programmable III Tool Installation Query - Minized Board

Hello!

I am interested to use the Minized board and looking at the training sessions, they're on Vivado 2021.1. Currently, I have 2020.1 version installed(both Vivado and Vitis) and would this be suitable enough to follow through all the training modules? 

I had a quick look at the product page and do not see any new support additions as far as ZYNQ is concerned. But I am still doubtful about this and if anyone has tried it out or knows about this, please do suggest.

  • Hi   , I would suggest updating the tools to 2021.1 version if possible as the tutorials are based around it. Newer tools would actually have some improvements and bugfixes. I would suggest you look at the release log of Vivado and Vitis for 2021.1 version to be confident that there is nothing changed from 2020.1 for zynq devices. From my experience with Zynq Ultrascale+ devices, the hw_handoff file system.bd inside <prj>/<prj>.gen/sources_1/bd/system/hw_handoff  was changed to system.hwh (so hardware .xsa files might be affected when you do hw export) and the way you patch u-boot in petalinux also changed when transitioning from 2020.2 to 2021.2 tools. The changes might also apply to Zynq devices, but I haven't tested it. So it would make things easy for you when you start the training sessions with the officially supported tools .
