question about petalinux installation

I have a windows 8 computer the bellow documents states the installation requirement for petalinux. In it they haven't mentioned any information regarding installation of linux in windows environment. Does anyone knows how to install petalnux in windows enviornment

  • You cannot install Petalinux in windows. You need a linux host. If you have windows installed on your system, you need to use virtualbox or vmware to get a linux installation. This is what is done in the Training course from AVNE, if you follow it from the start.

  • Windows 8 was ancient years ago, and it's risky if you're using it because it no longer even receives Windows updates as far as I'm aware. If AMD software is running on it, you've been lucky so far, but it's complicated enough software that you may well experience issues.

    Definitely worth moving to Linux, or at least Windows 10 (or Windows 11).
