[Pi IoT] Raspberry Pi 3: New Boot Modes

It's late in the challenge, but even then, I think it's interesting and useful information to share with you image

The two posts below explain alternative boot modes for the Raspberry Pi 3: from mass storage device and from network!

  • https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/pi-3-booting-part-ii-ethernet-all-the-awesome/

I think the network boot looks particularly interesting! Maintaining a single repository containing all your files and tools, ready to be deployed on any Pi would greatly simplify maintenance and control.

Perhaps not for this challenge anymore, but I will certainly be trying this in the future image

Booting from the network can be very handy, especially during development with a cross compiler. Thanks for sharing!

    Hello Frederick!

It is very very useful this information as I planned the main Raspberry PI3 to be booted from an SSD disk. I have tried the method previously applied for the PI2 (boot from SD then launch the root filesystem on the external SSD but it works fine until the new reboot. Then, it stops and the system start a reboot loop. I will try this method soon, then I can confirm if it works fine.
